From the Snow straight into the Lake: Test the best at the 2017 Winter Finals and slip into the New Wakeboard Season!
On 29 & 30 April, Sölden’s Tiefenbach Glacier hosts the ultimate 2017 Winter Finals. One of the undisputed highlights: The Fun Slope Innovation Days! Visitors have the unique chance to try and test the latest Fun Slope Elements and to rate their fun and suitability factor.
On 29 April, also the great Wake Testival is held at the AREA 47 – opening the new season of the Alps’ most action-packed leisure park. Why not combining both events? The slogan is: “Snow is only frozen water.”

219 creative ideas from 99 participants
How do the future Fun Slope Elements look like? A question answered by the responsible team of “Young Mountain” in cooperation with PistenBully – and the huge crowd of Fun Slope Fans themselves. The result: 219 innovative ideas from 99 master minds. An expert jury has chosen the 12 best concepts.
All these 12 elements are exhibited on a 900 meter long Showcase Fun Slope available for test rides at Tiefenbach Glacier on both days. Aspects that counted most: innovative power, feasibility, safety and economic efficiency.
Thilo Vogelgsang, Head of Marketing and Communication at “Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG” and member of the jury, was totally taken by the huge enthusiasm of all participants and the incredible number of 219 projects – which represented a big challenge also for the jury.

In addition to the future Fun Slope Elements, sport fans can also try and test the latest skis and snowboards of the next season – for free. Entertaining 2017 Winter Finals highlights are scheduled as well: on Saturday DJ In-Style performs live on stage, followed by “Apräskilehrer” on Sunday. A more detailed 2017 Winter Finals program is available HERE. By the way, the Winter Ski Area is in operation until Mon, 01 May 2017. The Glacier Ski Slopes are open until Sun, 07 May 2017.
„Snow is only frozen water“
From the snow straight into the lake in only 45 minutes! Why not? Skiing and snowboarding in the morning, relaxing and chilling (more or less!) at the AREA 47 in the afternoon. On Saturday, 29 April, the Ultimate Outdoor Playground at the entrance to the Ötztal Valley opens the new season with a Wake Testival.
Since the 2016 spring, the WAKE AREA of AREA 47 has become the undisputed meeting place of the local wakeboard community. Facts and figures are quite impressive at Western Austria’s first and only Wakeboard Center: a huge artificial lake – covering 19,130 m² – features a 420 meter long lift that takes wakeboarders, kneeboarders, water skiers and water skaters on a speedy ride up to 30 km/hour. Several obstacles, ramps, jumps and rails (can be bypassed) promise spectacular moments.

The best vantage point for family and friends waiting for the jumps & slides in the Wakeboard Area, is the rooftop terrace of the two-story Wake Café. All those who want to try this trendy sport for themselves can join the professional Wake School where everyone learns the first steps towards wakeboarding in a playful way.
